Located in the second ring of Brussels, the site lies between two very different conditions: on one side, a 400m cemetery wall, and on the other, a monotonous green carpet interspersed with repetitive blocks of flinty concrete housing from the 1970s. The project's plot is an example of self-aware permaculture: a long strip of woodland interspersed with numerous spontaneous vegetable gardens. The project has chosen to preserve and develop this semi-wild, slightly Berlin-like spirit of the place, so rare in Brussels. The layout minimizes its footprint, consisting of six simple, abstract protrusions. The chosen volumes establish a dialectic that extends and reformulates those of the neighboring housing district. Each trio of towers defines a communal square for the wider community. This outdoor lounge is activated by a series of varied community spaces (greenhouses, DIY workshop, wasserette, etc.). Other shared spaces (boxes, joker rooms, etc.) enliven the floors at a more intimate community level.
Around these two inhabited clearings, the wooded strip is enriched with additional vegetable gardens, reinforcing its role as a productive forest and incubator of social bonds for the entire project and neighborhood.
