Cours Beyaert is situated between the Federal Parliament and the House of Representatives. The existing street is flanked on one side by a flat neoclassical façade, and on the other by a succession of eclectic buildings arranged in a comb-like pattern, with their gables rhythmically punctuating the passage. The site's parking spaces are aligned in the recesses formed by these buildings, and the street now mainly serves as their access. The goal of the project is to transform this street into a place where people can stop, with a focus on pedestrians.

The subtle, tailor-made intervention simply covers the street's surface. The new surface interacts with the two façades, highlighting their relationship. The treatment of this new surface finds its subtlety in the material of the bricks, and in the patterns, textures, and colors created by their arrangement. The project also provides an opportunity to introduce more abundant greenery, scattered according to sunlight.

On the side of the eclectic façade, a collection of brick paving patterns is arranged according to their function: carriageway, pedestrian walkway, low wall, bench, landscape intervention, entrance, and exit. This is the plinth exercise.

On the neoclassical façade side, a concrete element organizes the access, planters, and benches. This is the sidewalk design exercise.

In the Présidence courtyard, behind the neoclassical building, we replaced the cobblestone paving with a surface made from typically Belgian materials: bluestone and red marble. The bluestone elements are sometimes sawn, chiselled, or rough-textured, presenting a wide variety of textures. This variety is emphasized by the griotte marble bands that punctuate the surface.
